The instructions on this page are for the Necronomicon Prayer Rope as used in the 50 Names Tradition. The prayer rope (or “rosary”) is used to make petitions to Marduk for one’s self or on behalf of others.

The Necronomicon Rope consists of 60 knots (or beads depending on how you make your own). 50 of these knots are dedicated to the 50 names of Marduk. Additional beads are for reciting other prayers. The seals or a copy of the Necronomicon are not necessary tools for using the prayer rope.

How to Use the Necronomicon Prayer Rope

On the first knot, recite: “Zi dingir kia kanpa, zi dingir anna kanpa.” (Translation: “Spirit, God of the earth, remember; spirit, God of the sky, remember.”)

For each of the next 50 knots, recite the 50 names of Marduk, followed by “I petition you, I bow before you, I thank you.” When saying “I petition”, raise your hands upward. When saying “I bow”, slightly bow your head. When saying “I thank”, bring both hands together to your chest. If you are in a public place, the gestures might not be appropriate. If you wish to be more discreet, you can simply pray with the rope, holding each knot for each prayer.

How to Make the Necronomicon Rosary (Prayer Rope)

The basic structure is nothing more than a thin rope in which you can tie knots and carry with you. Preferably the rope should be black in color. Be sure the length is long enough to tie 60 knots. That’s it. If you prefer, you can use black or red beads instead of knots. Ornamentation is fine. You can purchase the symbol which appears on the Simon Necronomicon from various stores and online. This can be metal, wood or plastic.
